Come on guys, let’s hear them.
Whether you accidentally pumped diesel in your Tesla because you were flirting with the gas station attendant, or you bought an automatic Corvette, we all have secrets we don’t disclose. It’s time to come clean.
Here are some of mine:
-I own a 2016 Corolla S with a CVT.
-I love the Lexus predator grille on everything it’s been on.
-I love how auto makers are going with LED DRLs on everything.
Go.

I think electric autonomous cars are really awesome.

I’ve borderline stopped giving a shit about cars.

I wouldn’t mind owning a reliable vehicle

I think new R/T Journeys are quite attractive looking CUVs

I like Toyotas. Don’t tell anyone.

I’ve never owned a car shorter than 200 inches long and with fewer than eight cylinders and a drive arrangement other than RWD.

I think pop-up headlights are hideous.

My TA is an auto. I’m completely okay with that. I also think public transportation is awesome, and that banning cars from some cities would be great.

I think FWD can be just as fun as RWD.
The Volvo 240 is a fucking terrible car.
Crossovers make more sense than wagons or standard hatchbacks on a day to day basis.
Automatics make better daily drivers.
Turbo engines are more fun.

I miss daily driving an automatic

In most cases, I prefer automatics.
I have no desire to change my own oil.

All I really cared about during my last car purchase was that it had an aux port. (It does and I use it all the time thanks to everything in Texas being approximately 5,382,948,274 miles apart).
And, I really miss the DRLs my old car had.

Pop-up headlights are great when they’re closed. When they’re opened, it’s like mounting buckets to the front of a car.

I once drove an automatic 328i for a few days.
I thought it was an excellent car.

I vastly prefer my S10 with 180hp and manual everything in every way to the no-longer-mine M3 with 240hp and almost every option available.

I traded in a sporty (but not fast) manual Italian hatchback for a beige, boring, automatic 4-door midsize sedan. Best decision ever.

I seriously began considering upgrading from my old Civic because of the radio/aux issues. The car decided to die on its own 6 months later.
And I was thinking about you yesterday as I drove from Dallas to El Paso. Texas is ridiculous.

My car ownership has consisted only of Honda Preludes.

My car is just an automatic FWD naturally aspirated Ford econobox with a fancy Swedish shell and I love it to bits despite it being pretty unjalop.
![]() 06/17/2016 at 21:56 |

I prefer modern automatics to manuals.
I severely dislike Miatas.
I find station wagons unattractive.
If I ever came across a brown diesel hatchback with a manual, I’d probably set it on fire.
While I don’t hate Porsches, I don’t ever plan on owning one if I ever make it to the top 1% of wage earners.
In fact, I think Porsches are “meh”.
Bentleys do not impress me.
I would turn Tavarish’s VW that he’s giving away into a SLAB.
I think Cadillac makes better Vs than BMW makes Ms.

No, I don’t care what you think about this.
I wouldn’t mind a Prius or Camry hybrid.
Slow cars are good.

The first time I drove a manual again after years of driving automatics, I promptly stalled on a circular ramp and just missed rolling backwards into a concrete wall, because I had forgotten to go into a lower gear before ascending.
I like the early 2000s Thunderbirds.
I am deathly afraid of recharging my A/C.
I once sat in the shade of an old Soviet van (it was 106°) and smoked a cigarette for about two seconds before being literally dragged away and informed that I was sitting next to the LNG tank and filler.
![]() 06/17/2016 at 22:53 |

I think if you buy a car for handling instead of comfort, you’re a massive chump.
Also, some cars are better with automatics than manuals.
Also, while I recognize the advantages of the wagon bodystyle, I still think they don’t look good.
American luxury>German luxury
I would totally rock a third gen Lincoln Navigator.

Jesus! That's a drive! But those 80mph speed limits in west Texas are awesome, no? :)

Close. A Kia Optima, actually. Non-turbo, plain-jane LX model.

Yeah my mom was shocked that the two lane highway I was on had a 75 mph speed limit. But you can see for 20 miles!

THIS. I’d honestly be fine with driving something like a 1990's sedan as long as it had an aftermarket radio with an aux port. That’s literally all I care about for my next vehicle I’ll be driving (my Ranger doesn’t have one). But my mom only wants the next car to be new, because she doesn’t want it to break. (I’m getting her RAV4 with an aux and, apparently, Bluetooth).

Why so? More space?
![]() 06/17/2016 at 23:29 |

More space, more comfortable, I can have passengers now, dog doesn’t hate it, almost double the HP of the Fiat...

No matter how much I love cars I’m an Architect, cars ruin cities. Also, having to cede 75% of a site to a parking lot is infuriating.

Earlier this month, I drove around on a sunny afternoon with my parking lights on. I had flipped the switch forward completely by accident. How embarrassing for me.
I don’t like to make right turns on red, so I just sit and wait unless someone comes up behind me.
My idea of a ‘nice car’ is a 1995-96 Toyota Camry, and I would really like to own one someday.
I drive a Smart Fortwo, which the mainstream automotive press will tell you is
an objectively terrible car
, yet it’s the second-most fun car I have ever driven.

When I was 10 my next door neighbor bought one of these brand new and I thought it was the fastest and coolest car in the world.
![]() 06/18/2016 at 01:12 |

Actually one of the main things that pushed me over the edge to get rid of my previous car was lack of an aux port (apparently it was an option that couldn’t be paired with a manual transmission). Sure I could have put in an aftermarket radio but I hate the way they look.
I drive from SA to Phoenix a few times a year. My problem now that I have an aux port is leaving town while streaming music from my phone forgetting that I won't have a signal for half the trip, because West Texas.

Hey man those 235 torques tho. Dammit I miss my S10.
![]() 06/18/2016 at 01:20 |

Heh. That might be a good reason to fork out the $10 a month for Spotify Premium. It lets you play music even when you’re offline.
Luckily, I tend to stay in the parts of Texas that have some sort of signal, so I just put up with the free version. When the ads come on, I switch to the radio for 30 seconds. Heh.
![]() 06/18/2016 at 02:00 |

That’s almost exactly the same list I would have made, so now I’m not even going to bother. But I will say that I do like many wagons and I would live to own a 944S2 and a Carerra GT and would turn tavarish’s VW into cash by selling it because nothing else is worth the effort.
